Job Title: Immigration Attorney
Location: Baton Rouge, LA
Job Overview:
A respected law firm in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to join their growing team. This role will focus on immigration litigation, specifically before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently, and a passion for providing exceptional legal services in the immigration field. Fluency in a second language is a plus, though not required.
Duties:
- Represent clients in immigration matters before EOIR, including detained and non-detained cases
- Prepare and present cases, conduct hearings and provide legal counsel to clients
- Draft legal briefs, motions, and other documents related to immigration litigation
- Provide strategic advice and advocacy for clients facing deportation, asylum, and other immigration-related issues
- Maintain case files and documentation in compliance with firm protocols
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Travel as required for client representation and court appearances
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active Bar admission, preferably in Louisiana
- 1 year of experience is preferred.
- Prior experience in immigration litigation, particularly before EOIR (detained or non-detained)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload efficiently
- Willingness to travel as needed, up to 50% of the time
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
- Active Bar license (preferably in Louisiana)
Skills:
- Immigration law expertise, particularly in litigation before EOIR
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Multilingual capabilities (preferred)
