Job Description:

- Multiple Staff Attorney positions available for bilingual attorneys who speak Spanish
- Third of clients served by Tenants’ Rights Unit (TRU) speak Spanish
- Seeking attorneys fluent in Spanish to provide language-accessible legal services
- Integral part of NYC’s Right to Counsel Coalition
- Passionate about public interest law, social justice, and helping communities facing systemic socioeconomic barriers
- Strong focus on preventing eviction and homelessness

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Handle full caseload of non-payment and holdover proceedings in Housing Court
- Communicate with clients, negotiate with opposing counsel, engage in motion practice, conduct discovery and depositions, and advocate with outside agencies
- Litigate before administrative agencies as necessary
- Participate in court-based intake and outreach initiatives

Qualifications:

Requirements:

- Admission to New York Bar or passage of recent NY Bar Exam
- Demonstrated commitment to public interest law and social justice
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Fluent in Spanish

Plus Factors:

- Litigation experience, including in law school clinics, internships, or externships
- At least one year of experience representing tenants in NYC Housing Court
