A well-established law firm in Salt Lake City, UT, is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Litigation Associate to join their team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute a variety of civil litigation matters, with a focus on commercial disputes, from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys in preparing cases for trial, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and settlement negotiations, ensuring their interests are effectively advocated.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategy and argument development.
  • Work closely with clients to assess case objectives and provide timely updates on progress and strategy.
  • Handle and review complex contracts, business agreements, and other commercial documents related to ongoing disputes.
  • Assist in all phases of litigation, including pre-trial preparation, discovery, trial support, and post-trial motions.
  • Contribute to firm-wide knowledge sharing and mentoring junior attorneys or staff when appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3-7 years of experience in civil litigation.
  • At least two years of experience working in a large firm environment with exposure to complex, multi-faceted legal matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Experience in drafting high-quality legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery.
  • Strong oral advocacy and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively represent clients in a variety of forums.
  • Excellent client service and communication abilities, with a focus on clarity and responsiveness.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases concurrently while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and attention to detail.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice in Utah and/or California.
  • Admission to the bar in the applicable state(s) is required; candidates licensed in both Utah and California will be preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle complex and high-stakes legal matters.
