Job Title: Paralegal - Housing Experience: 1-3 years NLSLA, a legal aid organization, is seeking a Paralegal for their Housing Project. The organization provides free assistance to over 160,000 individuals and families in Los Angeles each year, with a focus on addressing systemic inequalities and promoting social change through the use of law. The Housing Paralegal will play a crucial role in the organization's housing initiatives, working alongside attorneys to provide advocacy and litigation support. This is a full-time position, with room for growth and potential promotion to Senior Paralegal. The ideal candidate will have experience in a legal aid law firm and a passion for supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds. Key responsibilities for this role include conducting client interviews and intake, maintaining a calendar of appointments, drafting legal documents, and assisting with court filings. The Paralegal will also be responsible for maintaining client files and important documents, as well as performing general clerical duties. Qualifications for this position include a Paralegal Certificate or a Bachelor's degree with at least one year of experience in a legal setting, or a High School degree with three years of experience in a legal setting. The ideal candidate will also have strong communication skills in English and Spanish, as well as intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. The salary range for this position is $50,000-$58,000 and benefits include a 35-hour workweek with a hybrid schedule, 15 paid holidays per year, and 2-5 weeks of vacation depending on seniority. NLSLA also offers medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 403(b)-retirement plan with employer contributions, and a monthly bilingual supplement.
