A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Law Partner to join its growing Employment Law Department. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience, specifically in Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) litigation and class action matters. Location
Duties
- PAGA Litigation:
- Manage and oversee PAGA claims, including class action lawsuits, from strategic development through settlement negotiations or trial.
- Develop and execute tailored legal strategies for PAGA claims, balancing risk, settlement potential, and litigation costs.
- Supervise the discovery process, including evidence gathering, witness depositions, and preparation for hearings or trials.
- Client Advisory & Compliance:
- Counsel clients on compliance with California labor laws and conduct audits to mitigate PAGA risks.
- Advise clients on policy development related to wage and hour issues, employee classification, and meal/rest break compliance.
- Stay informed about new legislation or case law affecting PAGA claims and guide clients in adapting to changes.
- Client Relationship & Business Development:
- Foster and expand client relationships, providing ongoing legal support and identifying new business opportunities within the PAGA practice area.
- Develop and deliver presentations or training on PAGA compliance and litigation to current and prospective clients.
- Cultivate new client leads through networking, industry events, and leveraging the firm’s reputation in employment law.
- Team Supervision & Mentorship:
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and staff, ensuring high-quality legal work on PAGA-related matters.
- Review and approve motions, pleadings, and discovery responses, ensuring compliance and quality.
- Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages professional growth and keeps team members informed about PAGA developments and strategies.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in employment law with a focus on PAGA and class action litigation.
- In-depth knowledge of the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) and class action procedures.
- Experience with public entity defense is a plus.
- Ability to manage complex litigation and provide strategic legal guidance.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and research abilities.
- Proven commitment to proactive case management.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Member of the State Bar of California in good standing.
