A law firm in Kennebunk, ME is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney with a proven track record in handling serious criminal matters, including federal criminal cases, sex crimes, OUI/DUI charges, crimes of domestic violence, drug trafficking, financial crimes, and child pornography cases. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional legal research and advocacy skills and have a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system.

 

Duties:

  • Tried numerous jury and bench trials to verdicts in criminal cases.
  • Worked with expert witnesses and conducted evidentiary hearings on various legal issues, including competency, motions in limine, and constitutional violations.
  • Conducted contested bail hearings, advocating for favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Handled the responsibilities of "Lawyer of the Day," managing various legal matters on a daily basis.
  • Conducted final contested protection from abuse hearings where the opposing party was represented by counsel.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the state of Maine.
  • Significant experience in handling serious criminal matters.
  • Strong preference for federal criminal practice experience.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and advocacy skills.
  • Proven experience in handling a variety of criminal cases, including sex crimes, OUI/DUI charges, domestic violence, drug trafficking, financial crimes, and child pornography cases.
  • In-depth knowledge of the criminal justice system and relevant laws.
