The ideal candidate should be fluent in a second language, have at least 1 year of experience as an immigration paralegal or assistant, and be familiar with various immigration relief processes. NSLAC is committed to creating a collaborative and dynamic work culture, with the goal of becoming a model legal aid organization for suburban communities. As an Immigration Practice Assistant, you will work with attorneys, DOJ accredited representatives, and other staff to prepare forms for various types of immigration cases. You will also conduct factual and legal research, assist in case management, and provide logistical support for workshops. Other responsibilities may include representing NSLAC at community events and participating in ongoing immigration trainings. To be successful in this role, you must be fluent in a second language, have an associate or bachelor's degree, and at least 1 year of experience as an immigration paralegal or assistant. Additional experience in specific areas such as removal/deportation, SIJS, and U visa certification is preferred. You should also be able to work independently and with people from diverse backgrounds, have a willingness to work flexible hours, and have access to a car for travel within the Chicago northern suburbs. The salary for this position ranges from $45,000 to $52,000, depending on experience. NSLAC also offers a generous vacation policy, 401k plan, and health insurance.
