Supervising Attorney – Trial Offices

The Legal Aid Society, the largest social justice public interest law firm in New York City, is seeking dedicated and passionate Supervising Attorneys for our Criminal Defense Practice’s Trial Division. Job Description:

The CDP Trial Division is the primary public defender in New York City, providing robust and experienced holistic, client-centered representation. As a Supervising Attorney, you will be on the front line, providing high-quality, zealous representation to our clients. Your duties will also include training, mentoring, and coaching interdisciplinary teams of attorneys, paralegals, and investigators, as well as working closely with our social worker department.

Requirements:

- New York State Bar admission (or ability to waive in)
- At least 5 years of demonstrated commitment to public defense, social and racial justice, and equity

- Knowledge of relevant New York State laws
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative teams and train individuals and groups

Salary Transparency:

The specific salary offers will be dependent on candidate qualifications, including collectively bargained salary steps for unionized roles. The salary range for this position is $88,057 to $144,564.
