Law Firm Seeking Experienced Trademark Attorney in Washington, . or Metro Detroit

Butzel Long, a well-established and highly respected law firm with over 170 years of experience, is seeking an experienced Trademark Attorney to join our intellectual property team in either Washington, . or one of our Metro Detroit offices. Our firm has a diverse and dynamic book of business, working with clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to startups. We are looking for a standout candidate to help us continue our growth and success in the legal and business landscape.

Responsibilities:

- Cultivate and generate new client relationships
- Manage new and existing client relationships
- Conduct trademark availability searches using . and international databases
- Prepare and prosecute . trademark applications and related documents
- Manage international trademark prosecution and correspondence with foreign associates and trademark offices
- Oversee brand policing efforts, including reviewing trademark watch notices and monitoring potential infringers
- Handle TTAB actions and correspond with foreign associates for similar actions overseas
- Assist with trademark-related litigation in state and federal courts
- Prepare required post-registration maintenance documents
- Design, recommend, and implement processes and procedures to enhance group efficiency
- Complete domain name registrations and transfers and conduct UDRP actions
- Manage trademark-related matters in docket system

- Good organizational and project management skills
- Proficient in online legal research services and resources
- Excellent legal writing and oral communication skills
- Sound judgment and ability to work independently
- Expertise in trademark law concepts, practices, and procedures
- Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing environments
- Willingness to work hard in a fast-paced atmosphere

Education, Experience, and Training:

- Graduate of an accredited law school
- At least 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney
- Portable book of business of at least $350,000
- Admitted to practice law in Washington, . or Michigan and USPTO
