Role and Responsibilities:

- Serve as a trusted advisor and provide strategic leadership and positioning on antitrust and competition-related issues.
- Work closely with other senior leaders in the Office of General Counsel (OGC) to shape Vanguard’s antitrust compliance program and strategy.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders to develop and advance strategies and activities.
- Provide business leaders with antitrust-related legal advice, training, and counseling, and ensure compliance with policies and practices.
- Support Vanguard’s response to government reviews regarding mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, as well as proposed regulations.
- Represent the organization in complex, controversial, significant, or specialized legal proceedings before courts, government agencies, or other authorities to protect the organization's interests.
- Select and manage outside counsel to represent Vanguard and review and evaluate their invoices.
- Maintain a high level of expertise in antitrust law, Vanguard’s business and products, and the asset management industry.
- Stay abreast of industry and regulatory developments and maintain affiliations with relevant industry, compliance, and risk associations.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and technical expertise expected of role models and leaders in the OGC.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

- Minimum of 10 years related legal work experience; supervisory experience preferred.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Law degree (JD) required.
- Demonstrated persuasion and influencing capabilities.
- Ability to balance business and legal needs and manage multiple projects at one time.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and ability to communicate, influence, negotiate, and build agreement with senior leaders and/or a matrix structure.
