Paralegal II - Legal Department at Energy Company

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paralegal II to join our Legal Department at Calpine Corporation, America's largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources. This is a full-time position located in Walnut Creek, CA, with a competitive salary range of $96,480 to $120,600. As a Paralegal II, you will play a critical role in supporting our company's commitment to environmental stewardship and excellence in power generation.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain knowledge of all stages of energy development projects, including offtake agreements, construction and procurement contracting, permitting, real estate transactions and other commercial agreements
- Prepare, review, and file various transactional documents, including offtake, construction, and regulatory agreements
- Manage execution of complex, multi-party agreements using DocuSign
- Administer and manage submittals to regulatory agencies and transaction counterparties
- Support construction project audits and maintain departmental records using SharePoint and Teams channels
- Prepare meeting notices, checklists, and manage legal and regulatory compliance calendars
- Collaborate with other departments such as construction, origination, development, operations, EHS, and contracts
- Summarize, track, and lead project-team reviews of obligations and milestones in major development agreements
- Research and summarize contractual, legal, and industry-specific issues
- Work on problems of diverse scope and use independent judgment requiring in-depth analysis
- Serve as project/technical lead on small to medium sized projects

Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree
- Paralegal Certificate preferred
- 5+ years of experience, with 2 years minimum of transactional paralegal experience
- Experience using Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, Workshare, DocuSign, and SharePoint
- Notary or willingness to complete requirements to become a notary
- Energy industry experience preferred
