Job Description:

Overview:
- Responsible for making coverage determinations for liability claims under policies
- Provides guidance to claim adjusters, supervisors, and managers on coverage issues
- Acts as the coverage adjuster on litigated coverage claims
- Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values and upholds the standards of the organization

Responsibilities:
- Provides coverage analysis to branch offices
- Offers guidance on additional investigation needed to resolve coverage issues
- Communicates with underwriting for policy issue clarification
- Informs concerning jurisdictional nuances
- Determines if outside coverage counsel advice is needed
- Reviews and approves coverage position letters drafted by claims adjusters
- Makes referrals to and communicates with outside coverage counsel
- Ensures timely reporting from counsel
- Reviews and analyzes opinions
- Provides recommendations to branch offices and VP Claims based on counsel opinions
- Handles complex coverage issues/claims
- Drafts coverage positions on complicated issues
- Communicates and strategizes with branch office concerning settlement of underlying claims
- Adjusts litigated coverage claims
- Makes appropriate coverage counsel assignments
- Reviews and analyzes substantive documents/reports drafted by coverage counsel
- Ensures timely filing and reporting by coverage counsel
- Makes decisions concerning development/direction of coverage litigation
- Reports developments in coverage action to underlying claim adjuster/supervisor
- Updates appropriate log/reporting system re developments concerning suits against AmTrust companies

Qualifications:
- JD from an American Bar Association accredited law school
- 5+ years of industry experience in Complex Claims
- Focus on coverage issues preferred
- Analytical and human relations skills are critical
- Effective communication skills; ability to obtain information from others and deliver information to others orally and in written form

Preferred:
- Certifications and/or professional designations preferred (examples, AIC, CPCU, ARM, etc.)
