Paralegal - Home Ownership Protection Program (HOPP): - Provide direct and comprehensive legal support to staff attorneys for the Home Ownership Protection Program (HOPP)/Foreclosure program. - Interview and screen clients facing mortgage or tax foreclosure, assess the status of the case and prepare case summaries. - Explain the timeline and process to clients facing foreclosure during case triaging. - Track mortgage and tax foreclosure cases and submit periodic status reports to managing attorney. - Complete loss mitigation applications for mortgage foreclosure cases. - Maintain accurate records and statistics for timely reporting. - Prepare, organize, store and retrieve case files. - Assist with grant reporting process. - Assist attorney(s) with trial preparation. - Engage in outreach and education efforts to reach community members. - Attend meetings and trainings as requested. - Comply with all Legal Services Corporation (LSC) and LASMNY policies and procedures. - Perform responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisor. - Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. - Prior office experience, preferably in a legal environment. - Proficient in Microsoft Office and computerized legal research. - Bilingual or multilingual a plus. - Travel may be required. - Salary range of $42,250 - $63,378 (DOE). - Generous benefits package available. - Application process includes cover letter, resume, writing sample, and professional references.
