Senior Staff Attorney, Anti-Trafficking Initiative at Organization • Legal • Full-time • Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 annually • Hybrid work position with job location schedule obligations Overview: Sanctuary for Families, New York's leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and related forms of gender violence, is seeking a Senior Staff Attorney for their Anti-Trafficking Initiative. This position will play a key role in providing legal representation and advocacy for survivors of human trafficking and other forms of gender-based violence. Responsibilities: • Provide legal representation and supervise other attorneys representing survivors of human trafficking in immigration, vacatur, and criminal justice matters. • Train, mentor, and supervise pro bono attorneys and staff attorneys, legal interns, law student fellows, and volunteers. • Advocate for clients facing legal and social systems, such as immigration, government agencies, criminal justice, and public benefits. • Collaborate with stakeholders to secure the best results for clients. • Represent Sanctuary for Families at relevant events and provide trainings to educate the public and service providers about human trafficking and gender violence. • Design and implement targeted initiatives for specific client populations. • Compile and provide progress reports to funders. • Perform other duties as requested by the Director of the Anti-Trafficking Initiative. Requirements: • Admitted to practice law in a . state bar. • Minimum of 5 years experience practicing immigration and/or criminal law, preferably in the public interest sector. • Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws related to human trafficking, especially immigration and criminal law. • Strong interpersonal, organizational, public speaking, and leadership skills. • Bilingual in English and a relevant community language. • Strong writing, research, and analytical skills. • Ability to work independently and under pressure. • Ability to motivate, inspire, and manage staff. • Deep understanding and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. • Passionate about Sanctuary's mission to end gender violence and human trafficking.
