Job Summary:

3M is seeking a Global Technology Legal Director & Associate General Counsel to join our team. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to collaborate with innovative 3Mers around the world and make a global impact. As the Technology Counsel, you will primarily support and counsel the IT and Legal Affairs organizations on technology-related matters and initiatives. This role requires a and at least 8 years of experience in technology law. Fluency in German and experience with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures are preferred qualifications. This role is work your way eligible, with up to 20% domestic travel and relocation assistance not authorized.

Role Responsibilities:

- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of technology contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Advise on data privacy and security issues for technology contracts and related matters
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and teams to assess legal risks and provide strategic counsel on technology initiatives
- Stay abreast of emerging legal trends in technology and contribute to the development of company information policies and practices
- Manage and resolve technology-related disputes, working closely with key stakeholders and external counsel when necessary
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making on technology-related projects
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate 3Mers on technology legal matters
- Coordinate with the Sourcing organization and Sourcing counsels on strategic IT sourcing initiatives
- Create and provide training on data protection playbooks, guidelines, and self-service tools

Qualifications:

- from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership preferred
- At least 8 years of experience in technology law in a private, public, government, or military environment
- Strong negotiation and drafting skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to provide practical legal advice and manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Fluency in German preferred
- Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures preferred
- Understanding of and experience advising clients in a diversified business environment
- Demonstrated ability to balance business needs, compliance obligations, and reputational risks in an objective, practical way
- Reputation for integrity and ability to balance business partnership with independent judgment
