## Corporate Counsel Company is looking for a motivated, practical, and solution-oriented attorney to support Company’s growth and business operations. The structure of the legal team will provide the opportunity for the successful candidate to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization and all functional areas and to make fundamental contributions with visible results. ### Job Summary The Corporate Counsel role is critical to Company’s continued growth and development. The successful candidate will support a broad range of enterprise-wide work including commercial contracts, labor and employment law, litigation and claims, as well as corporate ethics and regulatory compliance, privacy and data security, corporate sustainability/ESG, and other areas. The successful candidate will analyze complex legal issues as assigned by members of the legal team and provide practical, accurate, and timely guidance and solutions for emerging business challenges. This role is based in our corporate office in Dallas, Texas (9000 Cypress Waters Boulevard). At present, our corporate team members have the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays, and in the office Tuesday through Thursday. ### Key Roles & Responsibilities The successful candidate will: - Advise on labor and employment issues. Manage commercial and employment litigation and provide oversight to claims and charges, including EEOC claims. - Manage the commercial contract legal review process including negotiating, drafting, reviewing, interpreting, and otherwise supporting direct and indirect procurement contracts for all functional areas across the company; advise and make recommendations with regard to compliance, risk, and potential liabilities. - Act as a legal advisor to internal clients across finance, HR, merchandising, marketing, real estate, and IT functions to provide practical, actionable advice. - Take ownership of discreet legal initiatives as they arise based on changing business priorities. - Contribute to developing and maintaining internal guidelines, toolkits, policies, template forms, and training materials for various legal and business issues. - Support the Compliance Officer in building out the company’s corporate compliance and ethics program; provide legal oversight to the product compliance team regarding merchandise regulatory compliance issues. - Provide legal counsel to the safety and risk team to address compliance and safety issues and promote best practices. - Help to implement and grow the company’s corporate sustainability strategy and related ESG initiatives. - Attain industry and company knowledge; anticipate and provide legal advice on upcoming or emerging issues with potential impact on operations (., supplier and supply chain questions for the merchant teams; advertising and consumer privacy law considerations for the marketing and omnichannel teams). - Provide perspective to the privacy and data security team including legal analysis of relevant laws and regulations. - Collaborate on and review internal and external releases and marketing materials. - Engage and manage outside counsel and other third parties as needed. - Provide management support to the At Home Foundation, the company’s nonprofit fund that grants financial support to employees facing personal hardships or natural disasters. - Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with At Home’s key internal stakeholders. - Contribute to Legal Department initiatives and decision-making and uphold the legal team’s values of accountability, reliability, and partnership. ### Skills & Abilities The successful candidate should have: - Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish trust and build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders. - Track record of critical and creative thinking and sound judgment. - Exemplary written and oral communication; excellent organizational skills. - Ability to work independently, proactively own processes and deliverables, and set/meet deadlines with minimal supervision. - Ability to effectively prioritize and efficiently manage competing deadlines and cross-functional complex projects. - Successful people-management, including the ability to manage up and set expectations. - Ability to analyze complex issues, assess risk, balance different perspectives and needs, and provide confident and concise business-focused support and solutions. - Ability to respond to crises and challenges with confidence, professionalism, and flexibility. - Ability to thrive in a high-visibility, fast-paced environment. ### Qualifications & Required Competencies The successful candidate should have: - JD from an ABA accredited law school. - Member in good standing of the Texas Bar and currently licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. - Three years of progressive legal experience, including experience with employment law and with drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts. ### Salary & Benefits The Corporate Counsel role offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
