A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced civil litigation attorney to join its team in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, particularly in insurance defense, construction defect, personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, premises liability, and general civil litigation. This role requires a dedicated professional with a robust work ethic, excellent leadership, case management, communication, research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in civil litigation matters, including insurance defense, construction defect, personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, premises liability, and general civil litigation.
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload of multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Take and defend depositions as lead counsel in seven-figure, multi-party cases, including party and expert depositions.
  • Attend and represent clients at mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings.
  • Engage in substantial law-and-motion practice, including oral arguments.
  • Prepare for and serve as the first chair in trials.
  • Maintain active communication with clients, informing them of case status and developments.
  • Work collaboratively with other attorneys and support staff to achieve favorable client outcomes.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active member of the California State Bar in good standing.
  • 5-10 years of experience practicing civil litigation.
  • Significant experience in insurance defense, construction defect, personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, premises liability, and general civil litigation.
  • First chair trial experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience taking and defending depositions as lead counsel in seven-figure, multi-party cases.
  • Extensive experience with mediations, arbitrations, and substantial law-and-motion practice.
