## About the Position

Law Firm Warner Norcross + Judd LLP has an opening for an experienced Tax Associate to join our Grand Rapids or Detroit office.

## Responsibilities

* Counseling clients on complex federal, state, and local tax matters
* Assisting businesses with tax issues in a variety of transactions, including choice of entity issues, issuance of incentive ownership to employees, capital formation and cross-border transactions
* Consulting with individuals and businesses on tax controversies and audits

## Competencies

* Understands the complexities of accounting, auditing, financial statements and tax compliance
* Able to work independently (with instruction and supervision from assigning attorneys)
* Strong document drafting skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Attention to detail

## About You

* JD from an ABA-accredited law school
* Licensed (or willing and able to become licensed) and in good standing to practice law in the State of Michigan
* 2-7 years of experience providing clients with legal advice in a law firm or accounting firm setting
* LLM in Taxation strongly preferred and/or significant experience in a tax department of a CPA
* CPA designation or undergraduate degree in accounting preferred
