- Responsible for providing legal counsel and direction on real estate matters for our existing portfolio

Responsibilities:

- Serve as lead paralegal for assigned region or projects
- Research and analyze documents related to our properties to determine rights and obligations
- Advise real estate, property management, development, accounting, and facilities partners on complex real estate issues
- Analyze plan approval requirements and advise on reinvestment projects
- Manage mall lease negotiations and draft related documents
- Advocate for desired outcomes in default notices and correspondence
- Collaborate with internal and external partners on lease amendments and other agreements
- Engage outside counsel and collaborate on complex real estate matters
- Develop and deliver trainings on real estate topics
- Stay current on real estate law in the quick-service restaurant and retail industry

Minimum Qualifications:

- Legal experience in commercial or retail real estate
- Passion for innovation and change management
- Strong title and survey review skills
- Understanding of mechanic's lien laws
- Effective communication and writing skills
- Ability to set priorities and manage shifting demands
- High level of initiative and ability to partner with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in technology and standard MS Office applications
- Excellent planning and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

- Paralegal certification

Experience Information:

- Minimum 8 years of legal experience in commercial or retail real estate
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in Paralegal Studies, Real Estate, or Legal Studies
- 20% travel required
