A law firm in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a highly qualified Junior to Mid-level Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with a strong academic background, solid law firm, engineering, and industry experience. The ideal candidate should possess excellent writing and communication skills, along with 2+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience. The role requires a degree in electrical engineering or computer science, JD, and admission to the USPTO.

Duties:

• Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities in the field of electrical engineering or computer science.
• Collaborate with clients, inventors, and senior attorneys to understand and address legal issues related to intellectual property.
• Draft and review patent applications, responses to office actions, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research to support patent prosecution efforts and stay abreast of relevant laws and regulations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of patent strategies for clients.

Requirements:

• A high level of academic achievement.
• 2+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• JD and admission to the USPTO.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
• JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in patent prosecution related to electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
• Experience in data science/AI, networking technologies, especially network security.
• Experience in machine learning/artificial intelligence and hardware security.

Skills:

• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Familiarity with patent laws and regulations.
