The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Attorney to join their Office of General Counsel. The FPSC is responsible for regulating utilities in the state of Florida and ensuring that consumers receive essential services in a safe, reasonable, and reliable manner. Office of General Counsel:

The Office of General Counsel provides legal counsel to the Commission on all matters under its jurisdiction, supervises legal aspects of cases before the Commission, and assists in responding to inquiries from the Legislature. The office is also responsible for defending Commission orders on appeal, defending Commission rules, and representing the Commission in state and federal courts. The Attorney hired for this position will work in either the Economic Regulation Section or the Regulatory Analysis Section, handling legal work for the Commission in areas such as ratemaking, certification, territorial issues, and more.

Job Duties:

- Conduct formal and informal proceedings under the Florida Administrative Procedure Act
- Develop an understanding of utility and energy law, civil procedure, and rules of evidence
- Evaluate issues pertaining to utility regulation and state energy policy
- Conduct investigations and discovery
- Present evidence at hearings
- Advocate positions orally and in writing
- Work collaboratively on a team
- Interact with customers, utilities, local governments, and other state agencies

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
- Must become a member of the Florida Bar within 12 months of appointment to the position
