Associate General Counsel - Labor and Employment: A Full-Time Position at PAGNY Corporate Overview: PAGNY Corporate is a multispecialty medical practice group that staffs several municipal hospitals and clinics within New York City. As part of their Office of the General Counsel, they are seeking an Associate General Counsel to handle labor and employment matters and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and their affiliation agreement with NYC Health + Hospitals. Responsibilities: - Manage legal affairs related to labor and employment issues, including litigation, arbitrations, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. - Provide advice and counsel on collective bargaining agreements and engage with union representatives. - Represent the organization in court, administrative tribunals, and healthcare forums. - Draft various legal documents, such as memoranda of understanding, position statements, and corporate policies. - Supervise and monitor outside counsel. - Develop and conduct in-house training programs in collaboration with the Human Resources Department. - Assist with overseeing the compliance program and provide guidance on compliance issues. - Promote compliance with laws and regulations and mitigate risk and liability. Qualifications: - Law Degree from an accredited law school. - Licensed and registered to practice law in New York State. - Minimum of eight years of relevant experience as a practicing lawyer. - Experience in labor and employment litigation/arbitration and negotiation. - Knowledge of unionized healthcare organizations. - Familiarity with employment law and federal and state laws and regulations. - Preferred knowledge of health care law related to Stark, anti-kickback, and fraud and abuse. - Ability to work independently and handle various legal matters. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and advising skills, be detail-oriented, and able to think strategically. They should also have a strong academic background and demonstrated judgment and discretion. This role requires someone who can work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities. The Associate General Counsel will play a hands-on role within a small but dynamic legal department. Salary Information: The annual salary for this position ranges from $200,000 to $225,000. This is a good faith determination of potential base compensation and may be modified in the future based on factors such as location, experience, education, and other relevant factors.
