Summary: The Chicago office of the law firm Hawkins Parnell & Young, LLP is seeking a highly-motivated litigation attorney with 2-4 years of experience to join their team. The attorney will primarily handle product liability, premises liability, and mass tort defense cases throughout Illinois, with the opportunity to join national litigation teams. The successful candidate must be licensed in Illinois, have strong academic credentials, and be willing to learn and collaborate with a dedicated and successful litigation team. The firm offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as opportunities for hybrid work arrangements. The attorney will be expected to work from the Chicago office during business hours and be able to travel as needed. A valid driver’s license is required. Duties and Responsibilities: - Trial preparation, including strategy discussion, discovery, records review, client interviews, and witness preparation - Legal and factual research - Drafting of briefs, memos, and client updates - Attendance at depositions, hearings, and mediations - Collaboration with national counsel teams and other attorneys within the firm's St. Louis and Detroit offices Skills and Educational Requirements: - Active Illinois Bar license required, Michigan and/or Missouri license preferred - Previous litigation experience required, including deposition and courtroom experience - Participation in law review and/or moot court is a plus - Excellent academic credentials and strong writing, analytical, and communication skills - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities and deadlines - Self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects independently - Client-focused mentality and willingness to take initiative - Attention to detail and strong organizational skills - Technologically savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel - Intellectually curious and up-to-date on current litigation trends and legal opinions The firm values diversity and strives to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all employees.
