Law Firm Seeks Litigation Associate with 1-3 Years Experience

The Renne Public Law Group (RPLG), a top boutique law firm in California, is seeking a Litigation Associate with 1-3 years of experience to join their growing practice. RPLG has been recognized by the Daily Journal for their exceptional work, and their attorneys have been recognized by California Super Lawyers.

RPLG is devoted to empowering local public agencies in delivering critical public services for the betterment of their communities. They are looking for a litigator with a strong academic background and experience in all aspects of litigation, including written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial work. Experience in labor and employment law, public sector law, and appeals is a plus.

The ideal candidate is a proven leader with excellent communication skills, who is both courageous and collaborative. RPLG values diversity and inclusivity, and encourages applications from all qualified individuals without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, marital status, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

RPLG was founded by Louise Renne, former San Francisco City Attorney and pioneer of affirmative litigation in the public interest. Their team of experienced lawyers have a strong track record of litigating innovative cases in the public interest. They represent public agencies all over the state in court, arbitrations, and before administrative agencies, and also provide advice to cities, counties, and special districts as special outside counsel on labor and employment matters.

As a Litigation Associate at RPLG, you can expect to take on major case responsibility, including direct client contact, investigations, depositions, court and administrative hearings, and trial work. In fact, a Senior Associate who joined the firm in 2019 had three trials in their first year. Their cases often involve challenging legal issues, including state and federal constitutional and statutory law.

Some examples of their recent cases include defending a county against an industry challenge to a citizen initiative, representing a public skilled nursing facility in a state court whistleblower retaliation case, and litigating cutting-edge issues regarding the application of state and federal contracts clauses. RPLG has also joined with other attorneys to sue opioid manufacturers and large technology companies over their corporate practices.

RPLG is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing a diverse and inclusive workplace. They offer a hybrid work schedule and a generous benefits package, including health and dental insurance, 401(k) matching and profit sharing, FSA and commuter benefit programs, paid time off, parental leave, and coverage for bar association and professional organization fees and dues.

If you are a qualified individual with a disability and need assistance applying for this position, RPLG is committed to providing reasonable accommodations. To request an accommodation for the interview process, please email .

RPLG offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $180,000, depending on experience and qualifications. If you are a motivated and passionate litigator looking to make a difference in public law, join RPLG as a Litigation Associate and be a part of their mission-driven firm.
