Are you a dedicated, detail-oriented attorney with experience in both affirmative and defensive immigration law? Do you have a passion for serving the immigrant community and advocating for their rights? If so, we want you to join our team at the ****.

CARECEN is a non-profit organization that has been serving the immigrant community on Long Island for over 40 years. We provide legal services, community education, and advocacy to empower and support immigrants. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Attorney to join our dynamic and growing legal team.

In this role, you will provide legal and programmatic supervision for law school interns, externs, Pro Bono Scholars, and special projects. You will also have the opportunity to directly represent clients and liaise with external organizations on behalf of CARECEN. Additionally, you will assist the Legal Director in developing and implementing legal programs.

If you have a strong background in immigration law, prior experience supervising legal teams, and are fluent in Spanish and English, we encourage you to apply. We offer a competitive salary of $80,000 - $100,000 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Providing legal supervision and development for law school students and special project staff
- Reviewing and providing feedback on applications and processes prepared by team members
- Directly representing clients in affirmative and defensive immigration matters
- Liaising with law schools and recruitment events to attract interns and volunteers
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- 3+ years of experience in both affirmative and defensive immigration law
- Prior experience supervising legal teams
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Excellent organizational, computer, research, and communication skills
- Creative, collaborative, self-directed, and detail-oriented
- Compassionate, discreet, and culturally sensitive

We are a hybrid work environment and our home office is based in either our Hempstead or Brentwood location. This position reports to the Legal Director.
