Summary:

The Intellectual Property Paralegal will join ZOLL's IP team and assist attorneys in meeting legal deadlines. They will be responsible for patent docketing and filings, preparing patent prosecution documents, and organizing intellectual property related documentation. This position requires previous patent paralegal experience and a Bachelor's degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of patent procedures and experience with filing patent applications and other related documents. They must also have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment. The position will report to the Intellectual Property Senior Paralegal Manager and will be located at ZOLL's Chelmsford headquarters.

Responsibilities:

- Assist attorneys with meeting legal deadlines by managing patent and patent application docketing and instructing on prosecution deadlines
- Prepare supporting documents and templates for patent prosecution
- File patent applications and prosecution documents with the USPTO
- Prepare and file Information Disclosure Statements
- Work with IP Counsel to manage patent prosecution and trademark documentation
- Proofread patents, patent applications, and supporting documents
- Interface with outside counsel to oversee filings and set up customer and e-billing accounts
- Assist with trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property matters as needed

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3+ years of experience working in a patent department with patent docketing and instructing on prosecution deadlines
- Paralegal certification preferred
- In-depth understanding of patent procedures at the USPTO and foreign patent departments
- Experience with filing patent applications and other prosecution related filings
- Previous experience managing client or company portfolios using patent docketing software
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of a team
- Proactive and able to work independently in a dynamic environment
- Skilled in patent docketing (. CPi), USPTO filing and assignment system (EFS, EPAS), Outlook, Word, Excel, and document management systems
