- Responsible for providing written tax advice to clients

- Marketing, networking, and business development within area of experience and specialization
- Maintaining and expanding key client relationships
- Part of office/region's Tax Services leadership team

Job Duties:

Research:
- Identifies situations requiring research and conducts appropriate investigation
- Analyzes researched facts and sources utilized
- Prepares studies of tax implications and outlines alternative courses of action for clients
- Develops sales Talking Points document for marketing and sales opportunities

Tax Compliance:
- Ensures compliance with applicable authorities while identifying options for minimizing tax and reporting burdens
- Identifies "gray areas" and related risk potential for contingent tax liabilities
- Completes pro forma Forms 6765 and related state forms
- Communicates with appropriate clients, Core Tax Services, and Assurance personnel
- Ensures tax engagement letters are adopted before work begins

Tax Consulting:
- Develops and implements standard tax methods for maximum tax benefits
- Identifies and assists in maximizing all potential BIG credit, deduction, and other federal and state opportunities
- Handles inquiries and drafts responses to examiner questions and challenges
- Monitors implementation of workplans and provides assistance with protests at the appeals level
- Combines tax knowledge with business/industry knowledge to provide recommended solutions

Tax Controversy:
- Represents clients before any tax authority on contested issues
- Responds to questions from federal or state agencies

Tax Related Software:
- Utilizes Caseware, GoSystems, and other tax-related software and research databases
- Completes assigned tasks

Tax Specialization:
- Develops in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding BIG tax benefits
- Acts as industry expert in BIG
- Identifies cross-selling opportunities with other tax specializations
- Manages BIG services for assigned clients
- Develops tools and/or improvements to enhance efficiency of BIG practice

- Recognizes, measures, and documents financial benefits to clients

Strategy Development:
- Develops new or improved ideas to advance clients, the firm, or firm personnel

- Supervises STS BIG Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, required
