The Law Firm

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, a full-service law firm with over 350 lawyers and technical professionals, is seeking a Mid-Level Patent Associate to join our Intellectual Property Practice Group. The Location

With offices in Wisconsin, Illinois, Utah, Colorado, Texas, North Carolina, and Washington ., our modern and collaborative office spaces are designed to support our culture of teamwork and excellence. This position can be based out of our Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, Denver, or Salt Lake City office.

Job Requirements

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of patent drafting and prosecution experience at a firm or in-house, with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Robotics. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in the AI field, including machine learning, generative models, and data and image analytics. Experience with blockchain and distributed ledgers, video codecs, and cloud platforms and computing is a plus. Admission to the USPTO is also preferred.

Salary Information

For Colorado applicants only, the starting salary for this position is $190,000, with pay determined based on factors such as experience and practice area. Associates are also eligible for Michael Best's associate bonus program and full-time benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and 401k.

- Draft and prosecute patents in the AI field
- Conduct patent analysis and opinions of counsel
- Manage patent portfolios

Qualifications

- Minimum of 2 years of patent drafting and prosecution experience at a firm or in-house
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Robotics
- Experience in the AI field, including machine learning, generative models, and data and image analytics
- Admission to the USPTO preferred
- Experience with blockchain and distributed ledgers, video codecs, and cloud platforms and computing a plus
