GEICO is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Liability Defense Attorney II to join their team in Miami, FL/Broward, FL. This is a hybrid position, with the option to work remotely and in-office. As an Attorney II, you will be responsible for defending lawsuits filed in South Florida courts and providing legal opinions and briefs on liability, damages, and value. This position requires a Juris Doctor degree and 4-5+ years of litigation experience, including insurance and bodily injury defense.

Key Responsibilities:

- Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
- Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
- Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath
- Defending cases by trial or dispositive hearing, as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

- 4-5+ years of litigation experience, including insurance and bodily injury defense REQUIRED
- Juris Doctor degree REQUIRED
- Admission to the Florida Bar and in good standing REQUIRED
- Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Florida and meet and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements
- Ability to travel as required, including attending trials, hearings, depositions, and conferences
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts, and prioritize tasks
- Ability to learn and apply technical and procedural information

Preferred Qualifications:

- Civil litigation experience
- Insurance defense-related litigation experience

Location – Hybrid Eligible: This position requires 2 days working in office during orientation and attending in-person court hearings.
