Counsel - Global Privacy: Protecting Personal Information and Ensuring Ethical Use of Data and Technology

Overview

Foot Locker, a leading global retailer of athletic footwear and apparel, is seeking a talented and experienced Counsel to join our Legal team in New York City. As Counsel - Global Privacy, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our products, services, technologies, and business applications comply with global privacy and AI regulations, as well as our own Global Privacy Program and Ethical Use of Data and Technology Policy. Responsibilities

As Counsel - Global Privacy, you will be responsible for:

Staying updated on domestic and international privacy and AI laws, regulations, and standards, including GDPR, APAC, Canada, and US State privacy laws, and providing guidance to teams across the organization.
Developing and maintaining a legal requirements compliance framework and helping teams implement these requirements into their processes and controls.
Reviewing and advising on privacy and AI-related contracts, agreements, and vendor relationships to protect personal information and ensure compliance.
Conducting privacy and AI impact assessments and providing recommendations to mitigate risks.
Developing, updating, and implementing internal and external privacy and AI policies, manuals, and governance procedures.
Assisting in the development and delivery of privacy and AI compliance training and communications.
Collaborating with product, engineering, design, and marketing teams to integrate privacy considerations throughout the development and business process life cycle.
Responding to escalated privacy and AI related inquiries, complaints, and incidents, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

A Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership.
At least 5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on privacy and technology.
Strong understanding of global privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other state privacy laws.
Proven experience developing and implementing privacy policies in a multi-jurisdictional environment.
Excellent communication skills and ability to educate stakeholders on privacy matters.

Salary and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $200,000 per year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position and may vary based on the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
