Environment, Safety And Health Attorney The candidate' be reporting to the Associate General Counsel for Environment, key responsibilities include: Provide legal advice and counsel to Laboratory management and employees on environmental law matters, including compliance, permitting, enforcement actions and litigation matters. Draft and/or review of legal documents, including regulatory deliverables, permit requirements, policies, rulemakings, and responses to enforcement actions and other court actions. Conduct and participate in negotiations with federal or state governments and citizens groups in an effort to settle or resolve matters in the Laboratory’s best interests (., enforcement actions, permits, citizen suits). Represent the Laboratory in administrative permit or rulemaking hearings, enforcement actions, appeals and other legal proceedings, managing and working with outside counsel, as appropriate. Identify and implement strategies in support of OGC’s focus on preventive law, proactively working to minimize legal risk to the Laboratory. As part of an organization responsible for all Laboratory legal affairs, the selected candidate must be able to work cooperatively within a multi-disciplined legal organization, across business functions, and with various stakeholders.

Qualification and Experience The candidate ‘must have broad, substantive knowledge and advanced experience in environmental law, such as in one of the major federal or state environmental laws. Should have the ability to work independently applying experience and expertise to solve a wide?range of environmental issues. Should have significant experience with environmental regulatory authorities at the federal, state or tribal level. Must have a Juris Doctorate Degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school and an active Bar membership in good standing (any jurisdiction) and 3 years of legal experience after passing the Bar and being admitted to practice. Preference will be given to those with legal experience in environmental law. Education/Experience for Attorney 3: Position requires a Juris Doctorate Degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school and an active Bar membership in good standing (any jurisdiction) and 7 years of legal experience after passing the Bar and being admitted to practice. Preference will be given to those with legal experience in environmental law.
