Job Duties:

  • Counsel employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Negotiate and draft employment agreements, executive compensation packages, and other employment-related contracts.
  • Provide strategic advice to companies on employee relations, including disciplinary actions, terminations, and workforce restructuring.
  • Handle traditional labor matters, including collective bargaining agreements and union relations.
  • Advise on employment aspects of corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations.
  • Represent senior executives in negotiations and disputes.
  • Manage and mentor junior associates and legal staff.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar (active and in good standing).
  • 10+ years of experience practicing employment law, with a focus on counseling employers.
  • Proven track record of handling complex employment litigation and negotiations.
  • Experience advising on executive compensation plans and benefits.
  • Strong understanding of traditional labor laws and collective bargaining.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership and client management skills.
  • A portable book of business exceeding $500,000 is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in Employment Law by the Illinois State Bar Association or similar organization.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and legal research tools.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuing legal education.
