We are seeking a highly qualified Corporate Counsel to join our growing company. As an employee-owned company with a long history in specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution, we are looking for someone who can provide legal support to our Risk Management Department and other departments as needed. This position will report to the Corporate Safety Manager and play a crucial role in assisting with legal functions of the company, including providing legal advice, conducting research, managing litigation and claims processes, reviewing contracts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution and a minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience in either a law firm or corporate setting. They must also be licensed to practice law in the State of Kansas or be able to qualify for a restricted corporate license in Kansas. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, able to prioritize workflow and manage projects, and can work well under pressure.

As a Corporate Counsel, you will be responsible for managing legal matters, including communicating with and managing outside counsel, responding to litigation, subpoenas, and property transactions, and resolving claims. You will also provide support in responding to government inquiries or enforcement proceedings and analyze and summarize legal documents with a focus on Risk Management. In addition, you will review and draft contracts, assist with insurance matters, and track and provide updates on all legal matters to executive leadership and/or the Board of Directors.

We are looking for someone with exceptional written and oral communication skills who can effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. You must also have a strong understanding of legal principles and be able to apply advanced mathematical concepts when necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat is required.

This position may require occasional travel, up to approximately 15%. The physical demands of this job include sitting, standing, using hands, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. You may also be exposed to various environmental factors such as wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and toxic chemicals.
