SouthLaw . is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join their Judicial Foreclosure department. This is a full-time position located in Overland Park, Kansas. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for preparing and processing legal documents required for the Foreclosure process. The successful candidate will need to have a High School Diploma or equivalent, a minimum of 6 months legal office experience, or 2 years non-legal office experience, or an Associate’s Degree/60 undergraduate credit hours, or Paralegal Certification. They must also have the ability to type a minimum of 45 WPM, intermediate knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs, proficiency navigating through various websites, and intermediate skills with various software and computer programs. Job Responsibilities: • Update client websites and systems and input information into firm's case management software system. • Retrieve, review and analyze documents provided by the client to ensure their accuracy in order to prepare and file the legal documents. • Determine missing information and documents, and request from client, if needed. • Edit and revise files as instructed by attorney and Client. • Prepare and file documents and correspondence. • Ability to communicate effectively with the department, attorney(s), client, or docket clerk to resolve issues as they arise. • Other responsibilities as assigned or directed.
