Job Summary:
The Attorney IV at Health & Human Services Comm is responsible for managing a case load of 25-35 moderately complex civil administrative cases. This position requires extensive experience in coordinating with law enforcement agencies, as well as planning and developing investigations and prosecutions. The Attorney IV will also be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and representing the organization in hearings and trials. This is a full-time, exempt position located in Austin, TX.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a case load of 25-35 moderately complex civil administrative cases
• Coordinate with multi-state, federal, and state law enforcement agencies
• Plan and develop investigations and prosecutions
• Conduct legal research and analysis
• Draft legal opinions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal memoranda
• Represent the organization in hearings and trials
• Keep management informed of case developments
• Provide research and assistance in other areas as needed

Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited law school with a Bachelor of Laws (.) or Juris Doctor (.) degree
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a licensed attorney
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience handling civil Medicaid fraud or equivalent health care civil, criminal, or administrative matters
• Must be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas

Preferred Qualifications:
• Extensive experience in planning and developing investigations and prosecutions, particularly related to health care fraud involving Medicaid or Medicare
• Extensive experience in performing legal research and analysis and drafting legal documents
• Familiarity with state and federal criminal prosecutions and civil qui tam lawsuits
• Familiarity with abuse, neglect, and exploitation investigations
• Familiarity with fraud, waste, and abuse investigations
