Responsibilities:

- Handle full caseload of eviction cases including trial practice, communication with clients and administrative agencies, negotiations, and occasional discovery and depositions
- Advocate before administrative agencies such as local housing authorities and the state Department of Housing and Community Development
- Participate in client intake and maintain case records
- Professional development and education through trainings and programs sponsored by Maryland Legal Aid
- Assist with broader advocacy efforts including policy advocacy, media engagement, public speaking, and partnerships
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Admitted to practice in the State of Maryland or eligible for admission
- Juris Doctorate (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Knowledge of civil law, judicial procedures, and rules of evidence
- Proficiency in computer skills and ability to use web-based applications and programs
- Excellent research, critical thinking, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to providing quality legal advocacy for low-income, diverse clients
- Willingness to travel locally and regionally in Maryland
