A law firm seeks a skilled Patent Agent to join its team in Tucson, AZ, specializing in Patent Prosecution & Litigation within the fields of electrical engineering and software. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative patent matters, collaborating closely with a diverse team of professionals in an ever-evolving field.

Duties:

  • Assist in patent prosecution tasks, including drafting and filing patent applications and managing office actions.
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients on IP protection and portfolio development.
  • Collaborate with engineers, legal professionals, and clients to ensure thorough and timely prosecution of patents.
  • Support litigation teams by preparing relevant documentation and assisting with patent-related matters in legal disputes.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in relevant technologies and standards, including wireless communications and 5G/6G systems, as needed.
  • Perform patent searches and evaluations to determine the patentability of inventions.

Requirements:

  • 2 to 6 years of experience in patent prosecution and IP law.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is mandatory.
  • Strong background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Experience in wireless communication technologies, particularly in 5G, 6G, or 3GPP standards, is preferred.
  • Experience in design engineering, particularly with semiconductor or chip companies, is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education:

  • A degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field is required.

Certifications:

  • Must be registered with the USPTO.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of patent law and the prosecution process.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with wireless communication technologies is beneficial but not required.
