Job Overview: A prominent law firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Labor & Employment department in the Los Angeles – Century City office. This role offers the opportunity to handle a broad range of labor and employment matters, including defending wage and hour class actions, PAGA actions, and representing clients in both state and federal court proceedings. The ideal candidate will have experience in California labor and employment law, including experience with discovery, class certification, and depositions. This position provides the opportunity to work with top-notch clients and to be part of a dynamic and growing team.

Location:

  • Los Angeles, California

Duties:

  • Defend wage and hour class actions and PAGA actions, including handling discovery, witness interviews, and class certification issues

  • Defend single-plaintiff employment cases with partner and/or senior attorney oversight, including taking and defending depositions, preparing and responding to discovery, and drafting dispositive motions in state and federal court (and in arbitration)

  • Represent clients in administrative hearings and proceedings, including EEOC/CRD charges and responding to demand letters

  • Counsel clients on California labor and employment issues, including compliance with state and federal laws

  • Engage in legal research and analysis to support labor and employment litigation

  • Collaborate with business and legal teams to provide effective legal solutions

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of relevant Labor & Employment experience in a top 100 law firm setting

  • Experience defending wage and hour class actions and PAGA actions, including handling discovery, class certification, and witness interviews

  • Experience defending single-plaintiff employment cases in both state and federal court, including depositions, discovery responses, and dispositive motions

  • Strong background in representing clients in administrative hearings and responding to EEOC/CRD charges and demand letters

  • Excellent academic credentials with strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

  • Fluency in California state and federal court procedural and evidence rules

  • Ability to manage client relationships and work collaboratively with internal teams

  • California Bar membership required

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Experience with California state and federal court procedural and evidence rules

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with clients and legal teams

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities
