Job Summary:
The Legal Aid Society of South Carolina is seeking a Staff Attorney to provide civil legal representation, advocacy, and outreach to low-income individuals. The attorney will primarily handle civil litigation cases in the areas of housing, consumer, education, federal income tax, elder, employment, family law, housing, probate, and public benefits. Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Member of the South Carolina Bar
- Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedures, Rules of Evidence, Rules of the Family Court, and Rules of Appellate Procedure
- Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills
- Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required
- Excellent computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office 365
- Desire to work with diverse people and communities
- Commitment to public interest and poverty law
- Valid driver's license and good driving record

Responsibilities:
- Provide civil legal representation to low-income individuals
- Advocate for clients in various legal proceedings
- Conduct outreach to educate and inform the community about legal resources and services
- Handle civil litigation cases in various areas of law
- Collaborate with other staff attorneys and legal assistants to provide comprehensive legal services to clients
