The Tax Partner will report to the Tax, Trusts, and Estates Partner and provides professional legal counsel and representation for high-net-worth individuals, institutions, and corporations. This role requires extensive experience with planning and structuring business transactions and/or extensive experience on tax controversy matters. About Scarinci Hollenbeck Scarinci Hollenbeck is a growing practice of over 50 experienced attorneys. They serve the niche practice areas most often required by the owners and leaders of corporations. They offer a full range of services and have developed their business law practice with the expertise and specialization necessary to serve their clients as they adapt to the shifting economic landscape. Job Responsibilities The Tax Partner is responsible for: Acting as an advocate and advisor concerning legal rights and obligations and recommend best practices and courses of action related to tax, trust, and/or estate issues. Reading extensive material regarding tax law changes, monitoring legislative developments, and advising clients with respect to the potential impact of pending legislation as related to their case. Conducting legal research using computer databases. Litigating tax disputes in court if necessary. Negotiating tax-related compromises with the IRS on behalf of their clients. Providing guidance on how to structure the purchase and sale of a business by looking at the seller’s debts, liabilities, finances, and assets. Representing clients in court cases regarding tax-related legal disputes. Structuring, negotiating, and documenting business entities. Writing and filing motions and court briefs. Performing other related duties as assigned. Education and Skills The ideal candidate for this role should have: Admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey. Admitted to practice in law in the State of New York a plus. 5+ years’ legal experience as an attorney. Experience with structuring sophisticated business transactions in a tax-efficient manner. strongly preferred. US Tax Court trial experience. Creative problem-solving. Excellent legal research, writing, and presentation skills, and high professional. Existing client relationships and portable business. Proficiency in applicable computer programs (Lexis, Westlaw, Microsoft Office Suite). Self-motivated and entrepreneurial. Strong accounting and mathematical skills. Strong analytical and collaborative abilities. Uses the utmost discretion regarding sensitive company and confidential client information. Work Schedule The Tax Partner will be working full-time in Little Falls, NJ; Red Bank, NJ; NYC, New York. Salary Salary is negotiated based on years’ experience and portable book of business.
