Job Overview:

  • Provide comprehensive counsel to clients on various employee benefit plans, including retirement and welfare benefit plans.
  • Advise clients on ongoing benefits work and address benefits issues arising from M&A transactions, financings, and other business dealings.

Responsibilities:

  • Offer expert advice and guidance to clients on employee benefit plans.
  • Handle ongoing benefits work and address benefits-related issues within the context of business transactions.
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review legal documents related to employee benefit plans.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis about employee benefits laws and regulations.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, disputes, or other legal proceedings related to employee benefits.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in employee benefits law, with expertise in retirement and welfare benefit plans.
  • Previous experience working in a law firm environment is preferred.
  • Alternatively, experience in an accounting firm or consulting firm will be considered.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility to waive into the New York Bar.
  • Strong understanding of ERISA, tax, and other relevant laws governing employee benefit plans.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility to waive into the New York Bar.
  • Any additional certifications or advanced degrees related to employee benefits law are advantageous.
