JOB SUMMARY: Indiana Legal Services is seeking a dedicated attorney to join our team and use the law to fight poverty and racism, empower clients, and improve access to justice. The LGBTQ Project is a statewide program that provides civil legal assistance to LGBTQ+ individuals in areas such as identity documents and privacy, employment discrimination, and more. The staff attorney will also have the opportunity to work on other legal issues in different ILS service areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide high quality legal services for LGBTQ+ individuals across the state of Indiana.
Review applications for legal assistance and assess legal issues and needs.
Supervise law students, volunteers, and others, as assigned.
Plan, implement, and staff regular outreach sessions with community partners.
Develop and maintain networking relationships with community partners across the state.
Foster collegiality and teamwork within ILS.
Comply with all LSC and grant requirements and all ILS policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and admitted to practice law in Indiana, or eligible to become licensed by reciprocity or by taking the next bar exam.
Experience in LGBT law, particularly in areas of LGBT victims of crime, domestic violence, and youth work.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
A demonstrated commitment to public interest work and desire to assist low-income individuals.
Ability to travel within Indiana.
Ability to comply with ILS policies and procedures and perform all job duties with reasonable accommodations.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Starting salary is $57,425, with a range up to a maximum of $75,535, depending on experience. ILS offers an excellent fringe benefits package including health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and a flex benefit plan.
