Position Summary:

Plunkett Cooney, a leading Midwest law firm, is seeking a highly motivated associate attorney to join their medical malpractice practice group in Bloomfield Hills, MI or Detroit, MI. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation, with strong research, writing, and communication skills. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and challenging cases, with significant client contact.

Responsibilities:

Supporting the medical malpractice team with handling matters, research, drafting documents, and taking depositions
Independently handling litigation matters, including depositions, pre-trial discovery, mediations, and trials
Writing legal briefs and motions, and presenting oral arguments in court
Conducting thorough research and analysis of medical records
Utilizing knowledge of Michigan Court Rules, Rules of Evidence, and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
Learning and adapting to new computer software as needed

Requirements:

2-5 years of experience in a medical malpractice litigation practice
Deposition experience
Strong research, writing, and communication skills
General litigation motion writing and courtroom oral skills
Familiarity with medical records and terminology
Knowledge of Michigan Court Rules, Rules of Evidence, and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
Comfortable with learning new computer software

Active and in good standing with the Michigan Bar
