JOB DESCRIPTION
- Provide civil legal services for JALA's newly created "Shelter for Elders" attorney position, funded by an endowment to safeguard and strengthen housing-related legal assistance for indigent seniors.
- Full-time position based in downtown Jacksonville, serving elders in Duval, Clay, Nassau, and St. Johns County.
- Embrace and support JALA's mission, standards, policies and procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Maintain a full-time caseload representing eligible clients, primarily older, indigent adults.
- Develop and maintain specialized knowledge in housing and probate matters affecting older adults.
- Provide legal services including advice, negotiation, litigation, and administrative advocacy.
- Respectfully interact with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Collaborate with colleagues, human services providers, non-profit organizations, media, and community groups to address legal problems within the community.
- Cooperate in grant and program reporting, timekeeping, file maintenance, case closing, and compliance review.
- Maintain professional competence through training and staying up-to-date in poverty law and applying an equity lens to client service.
- Other duties and projects as needed to support JALA's mission.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Member in good standing of The Florida Bar.
- Minimum of three years' practice experience, including civil trial experience.
- Strong organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to engage a diverse constituency and demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative.
- Proficiency in Google and Microsoft applications.
