Job Title: Staff Attorney

Experience: JD from accredited university, experience working with low-income populations and veterans, and fluency in English and Spanish.

TRLA, a non-profit organization, is seeking a dedicated and motivated Staff Attorney to join our Veterans Advocacy Project. This full-time position will provide extended civil services to veterans in a wide range of legal matters. As a Staff Attorney, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of low-income veterans and their families by providing direct legal services and working with community partners to address systemic barriers.

Responsibilities:

- Evaluate clients' claims and assess civil legal remedies
- Provide direct representation to clients in all stages of litigation and advocacy
- Offer counsel to individuals seeking civil legal assistance
- Establish and maintain relationships with community partners
- Support civil legal services for veterans in the 68-county TRLA service area
- Participate, organize, and lead education and outreach efforts to raise awareness about legal issues faced by low-income veterans and their families

Qualifications:

- JD from accredited university
- Licensed to practice law in Texas or willing to take the next available bar exam
- Dedication to and experience in serving low-income populations
- Experience working with veterans and community services/partners
- Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken
