Advice to law firm management:
The entire executive leadership team and executive committee needs to be restructured.
Pros:
Aside of the office building aesthetic, there wasn't much positive.
Cons:
They throw millions at marketing, but little at retention and reward. Treat staff/non-attorneys like they're disposable. Love stroking their egos by paying for awards and accolades.
Partners to Avoid and Why:
Avoid HR, led by woman who is the absolute worst. They brought her from Pennsylvania and thought she'd be a breath of fresh air. It has everything but that since she joined the org.
Favorite Things About this Firm:
Find leaders who demonstrate emotional intelligence and empathy. The vast majority of attorneys are cronies and fail to hold each other to any standard of accountability.
Advice to law firm management:
You can work on diverse cases and make your portfolio strong. My advice to the firm is that you have to work really hard to be recognized at this place. But once you achieve that recognition the firm provides you opportunity to move up faster. My advice to other attorneys is to work hard and make it count.
Pros:
Great people and great support from across the board to help you progress with your career. There is a good training and a diverse industry learning experience. They do believe in work/life balance but at times it is hectic too. The workplace culture is competitive as well as professional.
Cons:
Challenging work environment. Can be very fast paced with many down times. Success is primarily driven by billable hours and track record of accomplishments. Hardest part is utilization of targets and achieving deadlines. One more thing I would say that this firm does not have the best compensation in the industry.

Advice to law firm management:
Management needs to step in at times and make decisions when employees can't. This will help move meetings and overall work along faster.
Pros:
The people I work with at this company are some of the best I have ever worked with. Everyone is so friendly and polite and get along with one another tremendously. Meetings go great with everyone coming up with ideas and supporting everyone's ideas.
Cons:
The problem with everyone being so nice at this firm is that it's difficult to make decisions sometimes. People are good at making suggestions, but coming up with a final solution can take a lot of time and effort.

Advice to law firm management:
Give people a chance to get raises instead of bleeding employees every few years when they leave for better pay.
Pros:
This firm seems to have everything that you would expect from a decent firm without any real fluff to distract.
Cons:
The pay here is merely average and you are better off leaving after a few years to raise your wages as you likely won't ever get a raise.

Advice to law firm management:
Stop appointing new managing partners/leaders on the basis of social promotion. The transfer of power only happens amongst a core group of toxic leaders who enable cronyism and lack the ability to actually lead people. As long as the money is pouring in, to hell with the people.
Pros:
The locations - great location profiles
Cons:
A midwestern, strictly conservative approach has stifled the overall progress of the firm. Inner workings point to a disconnect between regional leaders, dysfunctional operations and a greed amid rainmakers that deprives high-performing staff and junior attorneys of real recognition and support. Claims to be a big fish in the legal industry, but is quickly becoming a soar thumb for clients. Exclaims "people first" as long as the profits keep the partners rich and happy.
Partners to Avoid and Why:
Richard Scheff - The thorn in everyone's side. Diva-like tendencies. Scheming to be the next Managing Partner. Will topple the midwest leadership regime in due time.
David Braswell - Charismatic conservative attorney that has a global agenda to drain the firm through meaningless acquisitions/mergers. Busy doing a bunch of nothing.
Aubyn Krulish - Male attorneys are indebted to her for the secrets she keeps. Known to be territorial.
Pat Rasche - The dullest, monotone brand of leadership known to man. On a scale of 1 to 10 on the effective leader scale, he earns a -5.
