This place has the worst history of supporting crooks, criminals and bad law makers.
5.Current EmployeeSuperior Culture and EnvironmentLitigation Docketing Specialist in New York, NYRecommendProsGreat firm culture with great people and a respectful, positive and supportive environment. And compensation is very good. Didnt think this existed anywhere!ConsLike most big law firms, could use more staff for litigation support as hours can be quite brutal. But this is offset by such an amazing group of people all around, which makes a big difference as opposed to other firms that overwork, underpay and have little to no respect for support staff.
There's not much advice you can give a firm this big and successful, but if I could stress one thing it would be to really try to get rid of the ""good old boy"" network and treat everyone as equals.
This firm is very large with offices all over the world, so you can work on a variety of cases and travel to a variety of places. You can gain a lot of knowledge through the training that they provide and you will gain more experience in more different areas than you could at a smaller place.
As with any big law firm there can be an established caste system of sorts that is very hard to break into for some. They are often more worried about the bottom line than doing the best work.
Make hours more flexible for employees. Don't overwork the staff too much.
The people here are some of the greatest to work with. The benefits are also great.
The firm will work you until you can't work anymore. They don't care about individuals and forget that life exists outside of the work.
Treat associates better. I realize associates will struggle in every law firm, but it seemsto me that this firm in particular was quick to find flaws but slow to recognize great work. Wearen't machines; we need some positive feedback on our work to keep us motivated.
Disappointing Work Experience
Despite this, I was incredibly disappointed. No matter how hard I worked, itseemed to never be enough. Most of my fellow associates were miserable. The work hours areflexible, sure, but their expectations are ridiculously high. Sometimes the firm would getunnecessarily political, which would cause some enmity among the associates. There's alsovery little room for growth.
Thank you.
