The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction law, with 8-15 years of experience and a working knowledge of construction contracts and claims. Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
- 8-15 years of significant experience in construction law
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and all types of construction claims
- Experience in drafting and negotiating standard form contracts (., AIA, Consensus Docs, etc.) and custom contracts
- Familiarity with issues regarding payment terms, limitations of liability, warranties, termination, and ADR
- Extensive experience with all types of construction claims, including delays, inefficiencies, defects, warranties, design, liens, and bonds
- Proven track record of engaging in trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings with lead responsibilities
- Ability to lead litigation matters and argue motions, take and defend depositions (including experts), and possess excellent research and writing abilities
- Demonstrated business development experience, including a meaningful portable book of business with additional growth potential
- Ability to manage files, supervise client contact, and lead commercial cases
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of responsiveness
- Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding client service skills
- Admission to the Michigan bar is required
