The Florida Department of Health (DOH) is currently seeking an entry level attorney for the Prosecution Services Unit (PSU). This is an open competitive opportunity with a salary of $63,000 annually. The PSU is responsible for prosecuting violations of state law and administrative rules by healthcare professionals regulated by the Division of Medical Quality Assurance. The selected candidate will work under infrequent supervision and handle fewer or less complex disciplinary cases. This is a rolling requisition and will remain open for two months to fill vacancies as they occur. Remote assignments are available in investigative field office locations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Review case files and develop legal opinions
- Prepare probable cause recommendations, including administrative complaints and closing orders
- Present cases before probable cause panels
- Draft pleadings, discovery, and legal memoranda
- Represent the Department before the Division of Administrative Hearings and in circuit court
- Provide timely and professional representation in all aspects of litigation

Qualifications:

- Juris Doctorate from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
- Must become a member of the Florida Bar within 12 months of appointment
- Remote assignments available in Pensacola, Alachua, Jacksonville, St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Orlando
