Trial Preparation Assistant
Duties: Attending court proceedings in person or virtually to perform real time data entry regarding court proceedings. Reviewing case files to obtain information that must be entered into case tracking system. Conducting quality assurance checks using case files, court documents, and other available information. Transporting case files and other documents between various buildings and court. Contacting Assistant District Attorneys to obtain and verify information in the case tracking system. Assisting Intake and Arraignment staff with case processing responsibilities. Contacting victims/witnesses regarding issuance of orders of protection, other court events, and grand jury appearances. Informing Assistant District Attorneys about what transpired during court proceedings. Reviewing data and preparing memoranda, charts, and reports. Drafting legal documents and writing up new arrest cases. Assisting with other related duties, as required.

Qualification and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies or related area or equivalent education and/or experience. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience as a paralegal, legal assistant or in another similar capacity or candidates with an A.B.A. approved paralegal certificate. Must have at least a high school diploma or its educational equivalent. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to interact with staff at all levels and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach, including strong follow-up skills, accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines is also required. Strong preference will be given to candidates with prior clerical experience, including experience with data entry into computerized systems and handling documents of sensitive nature (filing, delivering, scanning, etc.).
